How to Draw a Nautical Star

Here are some simple step-by-step directions to draw nautical stars:
- 1) First, draw some lines to guide the process and make your first nautical star drawing as simple as possible. Draw a vertical line going down and then add two lines going the opposite way at the bottom of it. It should look like a stick figure's body and legs.
- 2) Draw a long hotizonal line going across the middle of the vertical line and a shorter horizontal line slightly below that.
- 3) After you have done that, draw the star shape using the lines for guidance. The edges of the lines are like points that you need to connect.
- 4) After you have drawn and can see the star, it is time to work in the middle. Draw new lines beginning at the very center of the star and stretching to every corner. You should have nine separate lines throughout the middle of the star, this will divide ever section of the star into two.
- 5) Once you have divided up the sections, color one half of each section a particular color to create the nautical star effect. Once you have done that, it will look like a three-dimensional figure.
- 6) Shade in the other halves of the sections with using a black pencil or marker. This will create a shading effect for your star.
- 7) Start over. Do the same process again to help you get the feel for it. Use pencil to draw the separating lines in the middle as they are simply there to guide you. Once you shade in the star, you can then erase these lines.
